Sehome's Smith, Kirker Victorious in NWC Dual

Bellingham, WA - Sehome's Reed Smith and Rosie Kirker won their respective races Wednesday, September 12th, in the 2.6 mile race versus Lakewood and Nooksack Valley at Lake Padden.



Smith won by a landside on a tempo day for Sehome with a time of 13:50.39, as he and some of his teammates get ready for an invite on Saturday in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Teammate Jacob Alexander finished 2nd for the Mariners in 14:20.56.


Lakewood's Alex Jensen and Gabe Hatch placed 3rd and 4th for the Cougars running 14:45.31 and 15:11.95.


Josh Steele, Logan Clabaugh, and Jacob Roosma from Nooksack Valley also did a tempo run today as they prepare for the South Whidbey Invite. Steele placed 5th as the top runner for the Pioneers in a time of 15:28.35.


In the girl's race, Kirker's winning time was 16:35.32, almost 2 minutes in front of the 2nd place time. Isabelle Douglas and Emma Berreth went 2-3 for the Mariners running 18:11.12 and 18:22.87.


Callie Buchanan of Lakewood finished 4th with a time of 18:40.44 for the Cougars top finisher.


Nooksack's Eden Benner placed 13th running 19:57.29 and was the Pioneers highest placer.


Nooksack and Lakewood make their next appearance at the 40th annual Carl Westling Invite on Saturday at South Whidbey High School. Sehome travels to Idaho for their next invite on Saturday as well.
