Meridian's Dhatt Has Succesful Day, Lady Trojan's Sweep 800 and 1600


Bellingham - Meridian's Jaskaran Dhatt helped score a total of 20 points yesterday for the Men of Troy as he won 2 races in the 1600 and the 3200 against the Lakewood Cougars in a dual meet at Meridian High School.


Dhatt ran 4:55.87 and 10:46.67 in both of his wins.


Other Meridian standouts in both of those races were Kenny Barnes finishing in 2nd in the 1600 (4:56.75) and Nathan Schneider in both finishing 3rd in the 1600 (5:02.36) and 2nd in the 3200 (10:49.35).


Spencer Solvberg of Lakewood won the boy's 800 race in 2:05.21. Meridian Jenson Ellars would finish in 2nd behind Solvberg in a personal best time of 2:09.69.


Meridian senior Ashlee Van Den Top won her first race of the spring winning the 1600 in a season best time of 5:58.63. Teammate McKenna Holz rounded up the top 3 running 6:10.71. Lakewood's top finisher was a 2nd place finish by Callie Buchanan in 6:01.52.


The girl's 800 saw the Lady Trojans take the top 2 spots as sophomore Emily Schneider led the way with a 2:50.71 victory, followed by her teammate, junior Kayley Betancourt, running 2:56.03.


Meridian heads down to Sedro-Woolley High School this Friday for the annual Clash of Conferences Invite featuring 6 other schools from around Skagit County.
