Lynden's Kildall and Ellis Come Away with Wins at Cheney Invite


Cheney - Nick Kildall and Isaiah Ellis of Lynden High School were the only 1st place finishers for the Lions at the Nike Van Kuren Invite at Cheney High School in Cheney, Washington on Saturday, April 14.


Kildall won the 800 in a season best margin of 2:00.64, beating the 2nd place opponent by more then 4 seconds. He gets his 2nd 800 win of the year, his first since a track meet at Lynden Christian earlier this season. TJ VanderYacht also ran the 800 for Lynden running a personal best time, 2:13.26.


Ellis and teammate Roscoe Perry went 1-2 in the 1600 as they ran 4:39.88 and 4:42.47. Ellis won first 1600 race ever in high school and Perry ran a personal best.


Junior standout Tate Hutchins finished 2nd in the 3200 with a personal best time of 9:56.83. Hutchins is the first athlete at Lynden in this decade to break the 10 minute barrier.


On the girl's side, senior Kornelija Houston placed the highest for the Lady Lions finishing 5th in the 800 race with a season best time of 2:36.17.


Frances Perry and Maggie Mussard finished 21st and 22nd in the 1600, running 6:33.84 and 6:34.53. Mussard pr'd by 16 seconds.
