Camas Girl's Too Much for Heritage

Camas, WA - The Camas Papermakers girl's distance team saw no trouble in their dual meet yesterday, March 28, versus Heritage as they had at least three runners finish in the top three in each race.

In the girl's 800 meter, Camas swept the first eight placings with five personal best times that were ran.


Paeton Lessor finished first for Camas running 2:33.26, followed by Katelyn Folo (2:37.32) and Callie Ulin (2:38.02) in second and third.


In the fourth through eighth slots from Camas were Emma Coates (2:38.04), Candice Owen (2:38.5), Bella Distante (2:40.43), Madeline Sheppard (2:41.46), and Chloe Buzzard (2:43.74).


Folo also ran the 1,600 where she won running a personal best 5:36.11. Distante was second in 5:43.64 and Camryn Mock was third in 5:45.07.


Aspen Ashcraft ran 11:47.9 in the girl's 3,200 meter to be the Papermakers third victor on the girl's side. Placing second and third were Camas' Ashley McKinstry (12:27.75) and Sydney Nickels (13:59.27).


Heritage's top girl was Kaylee MacDonald in the 1,600 where she ran 6:29.3 for sixth place.


The dominance of the Camas Papermakers transitioned over to the boy's meet led by the two-time defending 800 4A state champion, Daniel Maton.


Maton won the boy's 800 in a time of 1:57.36, beating his teammate, Sam Geiger, who ran 1:58.41 personal best mark.


Maton, a University of Washington commit, also won the open 400 meter in a personal best time of 51.62 seconds.


Mason Gross (2:07.42), Andrew Puffer (2:09.51), Connor Hayward (2:15.79), and Matthew Andrade (2:16.06) were third through sixth in the 800 from Camas.


Evan Jenkins won the boy's 1,600 for the Papermakers in a personal best time of 4:38.6. Hayward was third running 4:58.6.


Luc Utheza and Austin Weese went one and two in the 3,200 boy's race running 9:45.49 and 9:50.28. Both are personal best times.


Braedon Sitmann was second in the 1,600 (4:57) and Sam Bartelli was seventh in the 800 (2:18.98) for Heritage.


Camas travels to Sherwood High School for the Need for Speed Classic on April 12 and 13. Heritage will host a meet versus Union on April 16.
