Bothell Reigns Supremacy over North Creek

Bothell, WA - The Bothell Cougars boy's and girl's distance teams were too much for the North Creek Jaguars in a KingCo conference dual meet yesterday, March 20, at North Creek High School.

In the boy's meet, Cooper Hayes fought to the finish in the 800 with North Creek's Logan Milandin winning by one second in a time of 1:58.76. Milandin ran 1:59.49 and is a personal best for him.


Brandon Schenck placed third for the Cougars in the 800 running 2:08.76, also a personal best.


The 1,600 top four spots were all Bothell Cougars and leading the way to victory was Amrit Banga running a personal best time of 4:25. The other runners to finish in the top four were Dylan Lennon (4:39.99), Schenck (4:43.26), and Gage Herriott (4:49.73).


The Jaguars top miler was Jesus Herrejon placing fifth with a time of 4:50.8.


The Cougars also swept the top three spots in the 3,200 race led by Lennon's 10:20.21. Banga was second in 10:28.6 and Cameron Zundel was third in 10:50.81.


Chance Kelly from North Creek placed fourth in the 3,200 running 12:29.3.


On the girl's side, Bothell swept the top three spots in each distance race, but it was the 1,600 race where the Cougars performed at their best taking the first seven placings.


Liza Yuzem ran 5:24.23 for the win. Finishing in second was Kerstin Ly (5:29.39) and in third was Monserrat Lopez (5:57.93).


Other finishers in the 1,600 for the Cougars were Samantha Crumbaugh, Taylor Zundel, Maggie Hayes, and Kasey Ly.


Kerstin Ly also ran well in the 800 winning in a time of 2:28.21. Hannah Cecil (2:35.21) and Madison Barker (2:36.69) were second and third for Bothell.


Kasey Ly also ran in the 800 to place fourth in 2:47.76.


Lopez won the 3,200 race with a time of 12:55.74. Crumbaugh (13:51.37), Zundel (13:51.6), and Hayes (13:52.51) were second through fourth to wrap up the Cougar dominance for placing.


North Creek's top performers were Grace Richen in the 800 (2:51.87, 5th) and 1,600 (6:30.89, 8th) and Mikayla Goodwin in the 3,200 (15:18.41, 5th).


Bothell will host a meet versus Woodinville and North Creek will track to Redmond next week on March 27.
