Marysville - On day 1 of the 2A District meet at Lakewood High School, the boy's and girl's 1600 final was ran and two Bellingham stars qualified once again for next weeks 2A State Track and Field Championships at Mount Tahoma High School.
Bellingham's Cade Brown and Annika Reiss both placed 4th in their races as Brown ran 4:27.16 and Reiss ran 5:08.52 for a season best mark. Both advance to the state meet next week.
Reiss is the defending 2A 1600 meter state champion from last years meet.
Lynden's Tate Hutchins and Sehome's Cameron Hodges both placed 3rd in the 1600 to also advance to the 2A State meet. Hutchins ran 4:26.68 in the boy's race and Hodges ran 5:07.9 in the girls race, a personal best time.
In the 800 prelims for the girl's, Sehomes Hodges (2:23.16) and Aspen Allsop (2:29.2) and Lynden's Kornelija Houston (2:27.83) advance to Fridays 800 final to represent Whatcom County.
Lynden's Hutchins and Sehome's Lucas Cunningham advance to the 800 final on the boy's side. Cunningham won prelims in a time of 1:58.91 and Hutchins placed 2nd in 1:59.63.
